#01 - the undercut

Today I send a note to a hair salon asking for an appointment.

My note was:

Hi, I want to do an Afro-undercut on March 19th. My hair is 3c/4a type.

The hairdresser called me back.

 - Sorry, I'm not available on March 19th. Does any other date work for you?

When trying to figure out the dates, the hairdressers started:

 - I notice you have an accent? Where are you from? Your ethnicity can influence your hair.
 - I don't think my ethnicity influences my hair...
 - You mentioned 3c/4a. Thanks for describing... But here in the US, we used other terms.
 - okay
 - You say you want an Afro-undercut? What is that? Is it a taper?
 - Yes, a taper.
 - Yeah, we use the term taper here.
 - Yeah, a taper fade. Whatever.
 - We didn't talk about prices. Just for you know, I don't do bargains.

After the ethnicity guessing game, the US hair vocabulary lecture, and the assumption that I am a broke immigrant, I gave up. Looking for a new hairdresser now.
